Yes, it's a stereotype, but when talking about L'Impératrice it's perfectly true: the French are the best when they set out to do it elegantly. Call it elegant ... or call it sophisticated. Or stylish or distinguished or chic. All this is that the disco-funk of this band with the name of an expensive perfume sounds like it is for a reason. And the fact is that their discography hides all the aroma of retro pop somewhere between the human and the digital. Did someone say Daft Punk? Without a doubt, L'Imperátrice take up the baton from the most organic version of the iconic robotic duo and share the contemporary disco-funk pie with Parcels, Roosevelt, Myd and their fellow compatriots Agar Agar. The French sextet is looking towards the sky on their galactic new album, PULSAR, and are also looking forwards to next autumn. Five months after their appearance at Primavera Sound, L'Impératrice will present PULSAR in Barcelona and Madrid: on 31st October they will play at Razzmatazz and on 1st November at La Riviera in what will be the two biggest concerts of their career to date in Spain.
